4 Eligibility Conditions (ALL must be satisfied)
1. Nativity / Origin — Eight Eligible Categories
The 2026 brochure recognises eight nativity categories. Nativity is defined through schooling in Classes 8 to 12 (VIII–XII) in a Tamil Nadu school — not just Classes 11 and 12.

|---|---|---|
| 1 | TN natives who studied Class 8–12 entirely in Tamil Nadu schools | No nativity certificate needed |

| 3 | Children of Central Government employees serving continuously in TN for ≥ 5 years | Service certificate; eligible under Open Competition (OC) |
| 4 | Children of Public Sector / Govt-recognised institution employees posted in TN ≥ 5 years | Service certificate; eligible under OC |
| 5 | Sons / daughters of All India Service (TN cadre) officers | Self-declaration; eligible under OC |
| 6 | Other-state candidates who studied Classes 8–12 in a TN school | No nativity certificate needed |
| 7 | Sri Lankan Tamil Refugees who studied in TN | Identification Certificate from Headquarters Tahsildar (G.O. (St) 172 HE (J2) dt. 29.06.2010); if not refugee-camp-registered, also passport + visa + police-station letter |
| 8 | OCI / PIO cardholders who are TN natives | Eligible under Open Category from AY 2023–24 onwards (G.O. effective). Not applicable to those born abroad on or after 04.03.2021 |
⚠️ Community certificates from other states are NOT recognised for TNEA reservation purposes — even if the candidate qualifies under Cat. 6.
